A chemical peel is a treatment in which an acid solution is applied to the face, neck, décolleté or even back to eliminate the build-up of dead skin cells and encourage the production of new skin cells, otherwise known as cell renewal.
As we age, cell renewal becomes impoverished. The skin’s superficial layers accumulate imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, dilated pores, small acne scars, blackheads and brown spots.
Different types of peel provide an effective solution, adapted to each skin’s initial condition.
Amino acid peels are deep exfoliations that remove a thin layer of dead skin through enzymatic action. This reduces blemishes and restores overall radiance to the complexion. This treatment is recommended at the change of season or as a preparation for any rejuvenating treatment.
All our peels come from the Vagheggi laboratories, which guarantee the highest level of safety and expertise to our patients. These peels are formulated with glycolic acid or beta hydroxy acid (fruit acid).
The Primissima line takes into account the process of metabolic slowdown that begins as early as age 30, and the fact that over time the production of new cells diminishes, causing thickening, discoloration, pigmentation spots and wrinkles. Primissima not only exfoliates the skin’s surface, but also regenerates and firms the dermis; the revolutionary continuous-flow hydration exfoliating system, in which various acid and humectant molecules are meticulously selected according to specific percentages and synergies, imbibes the skin’s superficial layers in an increasing and continuous manner for shock exfoliation in complete safety.
Initial consultation
Before starting treatment, a consultation with a skin care professional is essential to assess your skin and determine whether chemical peeling is right for you.
Principle of action
The amino acid peel chemically exfoliates a thin layer of dead skin, reducing the appearance of blemishes and restoring overall radiance to the complexion.
Procedure
After cleansing the skin with a glycolic acid-based cleanser, the specialist applies a chemical peeling solution to the skin, which causes controlled exfoliation of the skin’s surface layer. This solution may contain various acids, such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid or trichloroacetic acid (TCA), depending on the type and depth of peel. After a while, the solution is neutralized or removed, and the skin begins to peel, promoting cell renewal and improving skin texture and appearance.
Normal activity can be resumed immediately
The peeling step is integrated into a complete facial treatment tailored to the skin’s needs and the client’s objectives. While the product is on your skin, you’ll feel a warm, tingling sensation. The concentration of glycolic acid can be increased as sessions progress, according to the technician’s recommendations.
Treatment duration
This treatment lasts between 45 and 60 minutes.
Number of sessions and intervals
This depends on your skin type, the condition being treated and the type of peel. We recommend 1 treatment per month for 6 months, followed by a maintenance treatment every 3 months. It can be used just before a special occasion or at any other time deemed appropriate.
Post-treatment
Improvements are often seen after a single treatment, with a series of peels recommended for best results.
To maintain results, it is often advisable to follow a suitable skin care program after the peel, including the use of moisturizers, sunscreens, etc.
When is the best time to have a chemical peel?
Winter and autumn are the ideal time for a chemical peel, as peels expose the deeper layers of your skin. This makes your skin more sensitive to heat and UV rays after your treatment. When you get a chemical peel during the cooler winter months when the sun is less intense, your skin is better protected while it heals.
